Monitor doesn't play 1080p

I have an old dell monitor that has played games at 1080p before but I can only go up to 1440x900 and 1280x1024 but no 1080p on every game I play, why?

it looks like that monitor doesn't support 1080 so im not exactly sure how you were able to ever get 1080 on it in the first place?

what did you have hooked up to it that you were getting 1080
