[SOLVED] Monitor doesn't work when plugged into mobo's HDMI Port

Hello,
I'm trying to set up my Oculus Rift and to do that I need to plug my Rift's HDMI cable into the graphics card HDMI port. Currently, my monitor's HMDI cable is plugged in there, so I tried to switch it to the motherboard's HDMI port and the monitor refused to switch on, but my second monitor (which isn't HDMI) told me that the Oculus software had recognised that it was plugged into my GTX 1070's HDMI port. I tried looking in my BIOS but couldn't find any graphics settings. I use the Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X Motherboard and GTX 1070 graphics card.

You need to get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter/cable and connect the display to that port of the graphics card. You might be able to connect the display to the motherboard and get that working, but it will only be using the integrated graphics of your processor. and not your GTX 1070.

Edit: If you're ok using the integrated graphics of your motherboard/processor, in BIOS, under the Chipset menu, there is an option for Internal Graphics. The default is Auto. See if you can change that to Enabled.

I changed the setting to enabled and then switched the cables (monitor HDMI into the mobo and the Rift into the Graphics Card) and the monitor still doesn't work. Is there anything else I need to do?

Nope. That should have worked. Looks like you'll need to get that adapter.

Note: For the record, I'm also having to use an adapter with my Lenovo Explorer and GTX 1060.

Hi, I'm trying to use my HDMI cable to connect to the mainboard's HDMI slot so I can use it's integrated graphics, but the monitor won't respond, it's just a black screen, no signal. Can anyone help me?

Go into bios and reenable it. When you install a gpu it disables onboard

Unless you have a ryzen processor that is as only the 2200g and 2400g have onboard video on them
