Hello,

I have one problem: my monitor flashes in the top left "analog" and "hdmi" for a couple of seconds and then goes black without showing any picture. I plugged VGA and HDMI to my new motherboard that i installed yesterday. It is a ASRock Z270 Extreme4. Haven't tried to connect to my GTX650 Ti 4GB GPU, but any thoughts as to why my monitor isnt detecting the input from the motherboard? If needed, I can add a video of how the problem looks like/a picture of what i have plugged.

Thank you for your help!,

So you are re-using the case, HDD, DVD drive, but have a new motherboard, CPU RAM and cooler. Windows installed on your old HDD will see this as a new computer, because of the new motherboard. Unless your old motherboard was the exact same as the new one, you still need to install the motherboard drivers, because out of the box, it has no way to communicate with USB ports, video display ports, SATA ports, etc.

Once we get the drivers installed and display working, then the next step will to do a clean install of Windows 10. I don't think your Windows 7 license key is valid anymore since you updated to Windows 10. But that does not mean you will have to buy a new Windows 10 license key, because with Windows 10, the license key is...

Yeah they are both connected, tried picking one but still the same thing happens, when i plug in only the HDMI or VGA to the motherboard.

Just tried that, still keeps switching between analog and hdmi for some reason, althought i only have one plugged in. It seems that it doesnt find the cable connected so it searches for the other option but fails to do that too because thats not connected.

Just tried that, grabbed a cable with HDMI on both ends, connected one end to the monitor the other into my graphics card on the back of my pc. Sadly, the issue persists. No clue as to what Im doing wrong here.

So you have the GTX 650 installed now? And you have connected the HDMI cable to the GTX 650 and not the motherboard's HDMI port? I checked your motherboard and it does not appear to have integrated graphics on it, although it supports video with a CPU that has integrated graphics. Here is the language from the specifications page"

"Intel® HD Graphics Built-in Visuals and the VGA outputs can be supported only with processors which are GPU integrated."

Which specific CPU do you have?

I got this monitor a while back, it's a Samsung S24D391, it does have a couple of touch sensitive buttons in the front right corner as well as a "menu" button, but when I press that I can only switch the HDMI to PC or AV, can't really browse any other options.

I see the monitor has 2 HDMI ports. Try the other one, while disconnecting the VGA cable. Is your graphics card installed in the computer? If so, remove it for now. We should be able to get internal graphics working first. I am assuming you don't have Windows installed yet, so we won't be able to use the graphics card until Windows is installed and the drivers for the graphics card can be installed.

Edit: Turn the monitor off when switching HDMI ports, and also reboot the computer once the HDMI cable is in the other port and the monitor is turned back on.

It seems i have found the problem: none of the motherboard ports are working. Just checked by plugging in keyboard/mouse and trying to charge my phone throught the USB ports in the back. That would explain the whole monitor problem. Althought I dont know how to make those ports work on the motherboard.

Perhaps, I didnt connect the cables correctly? But I don't know for certain, as this was my first time replacing the motherboard and I didn't memorize where were all the cords connected at. I could attach a picture showing my motherboard and all the cables connected.

Nothing will work until the drivers are installed. How are you installing Windows - DVD or USB flash drive? Insert whatever you are using and re-boot the computer. It should install the basic drivers to allow the Windows installation to proceed. If USB use a USB 2 port on the motherboard, not USB 3.

I already have Windows 7 and 10 (got it as a free download from Microsoft) on my hard drive, but I still have my old Windows 7 DVD, should I just insert that right now?

Do you have the DVD that came with your motherboard? I forgot that the motherboard drivers are on there, not the Windows install media. If you don't have a dvd drive on the new computer, you will have to copy the dvd to a USB flash drive using a different computer and then insert the USB stick into a USB 2 port on the new computer.

Yes I do have the motherboard's DVD and a DVD drive, because it is my old PC, just with a new motherboard, CPU, RAM and cooler that I installed yesterday. I inserted the disk and heard a swoosh sound. Other than that, I don't see anything happening. My motherboard is blinking light blue, but it's been that way ever since i built it in yesterday.

But that does not mean you will have to buy a new Windows 10 license key, because with Windows 10, the license key is tied to your Microsoft login ID (account), not the motherboard, like with previous versions of Windows.

Check your motherboard manual to see what the blinking light code means.

Have you removed the Graphics card?
