Monitor for 1080ti

So here is the deal. I just bought all parts of my new gaming pc. Including a
gigabyte aorus geforce gtx 1080 ti extreme edition 11gb
And now I need too buy a monitor for the rig. I don't want to spend a fortune on it but also want something that won't limit the gpu too much. Any tips on screens too buy or atleast tips on what I should look for in terms of resolution and refresh rate?

The choice would depend on games played and if high refresh rate is beneficial or not.

So - either high refresh rate monitor 1440p (165Hz, 144Hz, 120Hz) or
4k 60Hz.

As for size - I'd suggest choosing 27" or bigger.
