Monitor for gaming (LG IPS237L & Samsung S24C550VL)

Hi Guys!

I'm going to buy a new monitor and i really like the look of the LG IPS237L and the price is also affordable. It has 5ms response time, can it cause ghosting in fps games? My current monitor has 2ms will i notice the difference? I have been browsing the web for days, seen an awful lot of reviews, and i can't decide, there are different opinions. Anyone has experience with this, or similar screens? Wolud Samsung S24C550VL be a better choice? It has less reviews but faster response time, and also dearer.

Hi! I'm using lg ips 237L-BN and it seems perfect to me (for example with grid 2 or ghost recon online or splinter cell blacklist). but i have to tell you that:
1) i'm casual gamer, i don't know if i could have ghosting without knowing
2) my monitor now is giving me problems http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2084665/monitor-ips237l-horizontal-lines.html

so I don't think response time should be a problem, but I don't know if there are other monitors more reliable (i'm not the only one with this problem, but this monitor has been besteller for a lot, so a lot of people bought it and reviewed their problems (if any)).
other possible cons are that it totters a bit and his buttons are not very comfortable ...

conclusion: for ME it would be perfect price/quality if it had not this ISSUE, we have to find out if mine is an unfortunate event or it is faulty

Thank you for your detailed, accurate answer, and your invested time to reply. That helped me a lot, as im a casual gamer also, the response time wont be a problem for me then.

The horizontal lines problem: did you bring it back to the store along with the warranty?

i'm searching a solution on the web this weekend. next week I'll contact amazon, where I bought it (I don't know how long is the warranty)

in order to help you ... i've bought it (lg ips 237) for 165 EUR , 6-7 months ago, so if I should make a choice now, I'll also check for the current bestseller , maybe there's newer and better 😉 (i'm referring in particular to online shop)
