Monitor for msi r9 390

Looking for suggestions for a monitor to finish off my build looking to spend around $350.00 or under, I have a MSI R9 390,Skylake i5 6600k,8gb ram, I recently purchased an Acer K272HUL bmiidp 2560x1440 which looked great,but sadly after a month for some reason the desktop would slowly grey out while watching a video or in game but the color would stay on the video, I did try the monitor on another system to make sure it wasn't my Vcard it did the same on other system, so sadly I sent it back, so now I need another monitor, should I keep looking for a 1440p (ips) or consider a 1080p 144hz, I do game but mostly RPG style games. any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Don't look for an Acer monitor unless you're getting one of their highest end ones. Honestly there is always something well too wrong with any of their recent monitors that isn't the Acer H226HQL or s236hltmjj.

Becareful with VA panels, they're worst out of the three paneltypes for gaming: TN, VA & IPS.
