I am going to buy a new 1080p monitor for my RTX 2060 oc.

The AOC 24G2 144Hz or the 24G2E5 75Hz are good options.
What I do not understand is if a high refresh rate, like the 144Hz will affect the performance of my VGA or even CPU? Will there be a drop in fps?
If get the 144Hz and find that the performance is not as good as before then can I lower the refresh rate to 120 or 75 or even down to 60 and the monitor will still work perfectly fine?

Solution
High refresh rate has nothing to do with the graphics capability of your system. Only how quickly the monitor draws the screen. If you were capable of 144FPS than 144hz is ideal. If not, it will just redraw the same information.

Yes, you can set the refresh rate in Windows to be 60,75,120, etc.
