Hi,
I am buying a new desktop with the following specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (£268.67 @ More Computers)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£26.99 @ Novatech)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£120.99 @ Ebuyer)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury White 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£55.72 @ More Computers)
Storage: Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£45.98)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£41.56 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card (£161.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case (£69.98 @ Novatech)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£59.32 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £851.20
I am looking to use it for video editing (HD to 2K) and some light gaming. In the future I am looking to dual screen on a HDTV to playback while editing and to watch films. For now I am looking for a decent monitor, but on a budget as I am already spending a load on the desktop itself. I have read that 2560 x 1440 and 2560 x 1600 are the ones for video editing, but they are quiet expensive and I wouldn't be too fussed to go for a 1920 x 1080.
1. What Is Your Country Of Origin?
England
2. What do you plan to do with this monitor? (ex. Games, Movie Watching, Photo Editing, etc.)
Video Editing + Light gaming and video watching
3. What resolution and screen size do you want?
1920 x 1080 (2560 x 1440 and 2560 x 1600 would be ideal, but pricey)
4. What refresh rate do you want? (ex. 60 hz , 70 hz.)
Not sure.
5. How much are you looking to spend?
£100 or less
6. Brands Preferred (ex. Samsung, Acer, Asus, AOC, HP, Viewsonic, etc. )
Not sure.
7. Brands Not Preferred (state reason why)
None.
8. Are You Buying More Than One Monitor?
No. A TV in the (not immediate) future to dual screen.
9. How Many Displays Can Your GPU Support Maximum? And what GPU and driver version are you using if applicable?
I going to buy a GTX 960 4GB (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn960oc4gd)
It says it has: 1x DVI-D DUAL-LINK 1x DVI-I DUAL-LINK 1x DISPLAYPORT 1x HDMI
10. What Port Do You Want To Connect To (ex. DVI-D, HDMI, etc).
HDMI; however, I am unsure what is best for editing (?)
11. Is This Monitor A Primary Display Or A Secondary Display?
Primary Display would be for editing timeline and the Secondary Display (The TV in the future) would be to preview videos, watch films and maybe light gaming.
12. Is This A Secondary Display For A Laptop?
No.
