Question Monitor from USB-C

So i have a laptop and it only has one HDMI port and no other ports for monitors, but if i want second monitor can I use USB-C port with adapter? For example if I buy USB-C - HDMI adapter will it work?

I have no idea but I believe the laptop is ASUS ROG Strix G512LI-HN115T gaming laptop, like couple of years old (it is actually my gf laptop so i cant be 100% sure about the model). Can you tell me does it support it? It is supposed to be suprise for her so I cant just ask the exact model of the laptop bc she would guess why, but if i need to find out the exact model I can do it in couple of days but not right now.

Without an exact model number it's impossible to give an answer. The odds are slim that it supports HDMI over USB-C, though.
