I recently moved and got rid of my desktop monitor for a slightly used insignia tv/monitor. I know this insignia monitor works because I've been using it as a second screen (hdmi) with my laptop.
From my desktop to my original monitor, I connected using a DVI adapter to VGA, and it always worked great.
I am not sure if the VGA plug in the insignia monitor works.
Basically what happens is whenever I power on my desktop, "no signal" shows on the monitor, hdmi or vga. I tried hdmi on my tv (vizio). No display. No computer logo, no windows logo, nothing. If I turn on pc THEN tv, it tries, "retrieving data..." But still "no signal" after.
I know all my hdmi cables work. I tried them with my laptop with all the screens.
After some internet research, I popped the little cmos battery and the ram sticks out, cleaned with contact cleaner both port and plug, let dry, and reseated (resat?). I turned on pc then tv and suddenly it worked! It showed my options F1 for start up, I think or F2 to enter bios. I entered bios to fix date and time, then saved and exit. So I connected it with an hdmi splitter and connected to both tv and insignia monitor. It also worked! Huzzah! I updated windows (it's been a few months) using only insignia monitor. The pc restarted during the process at least once or twice. Then I turned it off for the night. A few days later, no signal all over again. But this time nothing works.
I've unplugged everything I could, cleaned and reseated. Plugged everything in/turned on in different orders. Switched the ram ports, and tried one at a time (though not in all ports). Still nothing. And I can't seem to get into bios or safe mode or anything blind because my keyboard doesn't seem to be responding (lighting up) either.
I would try using the integrated video on the motherboard, but while I have a db9 cable, I don't have anything to plug it into.
Mobo: msi 970A-G46 MS-7693 get 2.0
Gpu: evga geforce gtx 750 ti sc
Ram: ddr3-1600 cl9-9-9-24 1.5v pc3-12800 4Gx2
Cpu: AMD, I'm sure but I really can't remember off the top of my head
Monitor: insignia NS-24E200NA14
Could this have happened because of a windows update? Hopefully I don't need to replace the video card or motherboard.
