My current monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster 203B, gives off a lot of glare when I play with the blinds open and the bright sun shining in my room. This means playing a game where the character is in a dark room is really hard to see. Do newer monitors solve this issue? If so, what do I look for while purchasing a new monitor?

Solution

The glossy monitors are more common, so if it does not say, I would assume it is. You can ask on Amazon to confirm it.

Monitors come in both glossy and matte screens. The glossy ones generally look a little sharper, but have this type of glare issue when in a room with sunlight like you describe.

You should look for a matte screen monitor.

You can also consider a matte screen cover to help with your existing monitor.
