Monitor goes black after 1-2 seconds?

My Samsung syncmaster monitor goes off about 1-2 seconds after turning it on, the power light stays on and I can hear the screen flickering, when it's on during those 2 seconds, the left side of the screen flickers from darker to brighter. I have to repeatedly turn it on and off until the flickering gets more frequent and then the whole screen lights up to its normal brightness and I have no problems afterwards, just during the startup. I know it's not my GPU nor any other component of my PC. Any solutions?

Could be a bad monitor, but more likely a bad connection. Try another cable or even another cable type (hdmi, dvi, vga). Many times its just not tight or the cable itself is bad.

Try uninstalling your video card drivers and see if the problem persists if so sounds like a faulty card if it works fine then you need to either roll back your video drivers or update them.
