Hello! I'm at wit's end with this problem.

My computer boots up, windows logo displays, few seconds later when it should transition to the log-in screen it instead kicks into power-saving mode and displays a black screen while the computer runs ( I can hear the windows sound)

I have tried uninstalling drivers via safe mode, reinstalling, clean installs, everything save testing another monitor since I lack a spare.

Reinstalling the drivers or older versions of the display driver will still result in the problem, during installation especially as it will kick into blackness during its installation of the driver itself.

Specs: Windows 10 Home x64 bit (latest version), Intel i7-4790k, GTX 770, 1 TB HDD, 8GB RAM.

Hello AdaptableBarnacle

Can you please confirm if you are working on a desktop computer?

If so, can you please try this:

> Boot Windows 10 in Safe Mode.

> Go to Display Settings.

> Reduce the Display Resolution to the lowest.

> Restart Windows normally and see if it works normally this time.

On laptop:

> Unplug the power adapter.

> Pull out the battery.

> Press and hold down the Power button for 45-60 seconds.

> Release the Power button.

> Put the battery back and try starting the laptop this time.

If both the above suggestions fail to resolve the problem, you may then want to check if one or more RAM(s) is/are faulty. You can do so by pulling out one RAM stick at a time and then starting the computer with the remaining RAM stick.

If the RAM sticks or RAM slots are fine, you can try pulling out the CMOS battery to check if the PC runs normally without it. If it does, replacing the CMOS battery with a new one may help.

Feel free to reply if further assistance is needed.

Cheers!! :)

Hello! I am on a desktop. When I try to change resolution, it is stuck at the lowest solution.

RAM works fine and CMOS is good, even though the BIOS was reset.

I tried flashing the firmware and installing the default GPU BIOS to the same result.

If it helps, one of the VGA ports seems to not work while the other does.

Hello again AdaptableBarnacle

If possible, can you please try disabling the faulty VGA from the BIOS and see if it helps?

Please reply back for further assistance.

Cheers!! :)

New problem! The BIOS resolution does not fit my screen now, overstretching itself, so I'm unable to see all of the options.
