Hey guys.

A good friend of mine has a problem with his computer. Until about 2 weeks ago he didn't have any problems, but suddenly his screen has started to go black very frequently between 2-5 seconds when he uses it. The monitor clearly states during blackout that there is no signal detected, before the image comes back again. Furthermore, when he is gaming, in particular "Path of Exile", his screen goes completely black and acts like it isn't even plugged into the computer. During this, it doesn't respond to to inputs from his mouse or keyboard, and he is forced to reboot the computer.

In an efford to fix this, he has changed the cable in the screen from a DVI- to a HDMI-cable, and downloadning and reinstalling the previous driver for his GPU. This haven't givevn any results either.

What could the problem be?

His specs are the following:

Screen: BenQ XL2411t

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 6 MB (Intel Boxed)

GPU: MSI Nvidia 760 TF 2GD5 / OC

Motherboard: MSI B85-G43 gaming

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE120 120 GB

PSU: Corsair CX500M (Sort)

If it were me, I would check all the components to see if they are seated properly. If they're loose just settle them back in and make sure they are secured. If this isn't the problem I would try loading up with the on-board graphics and seeing if you get the same problem.

Hmm... the problems is still there.

He doesn't know. He is pretty new when it comes to custom PCs. But he found out that the problem is GPU. After plugging it into another monitor and his TV, the problem still exist. So it much definitely be the GPU,

The problem is most likly heat. download HW monitor and keep an eye oin the max GPU temp. as a general rule it should stay under about 80C if its going above 85C then you have a problem, or if it keeps cutting out at a specific temperature.
Solutions: download MSI afterburner and use it to increase the speed of the fans on the GPU. (do not use it for Overclocking though)

Hey guys. I found the problem. After testing the GPU in a friends rig, we found out that the GPU was indeed the problem. The GPU was sent back to MSI via RMA and I got a new one. I have no problems now. :)
