Hello! I have an issue with my lcd monitor. It's a NEC LCD Monitor 1703M (connected with VGA). I know it's old but except that it runs fine! I am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and the graphics card is nvidia 8600GT.
So, the problem is that when using it it starts to shut off. At first i pressed the power button to come back on but i left it as is to see if it will come back on its own and almost every time it does. Also, i see that the more time is on the more frequent the on-offs will be and the more time it will take to come back on its own. I think that time being used may be a variable in this equation. The colours and everything else is fine.
So far, i checked the temperature parameter and i don't think it's that (without being 100% sure). I used Open Hardware Monitor and it's 45 ℃ and 46-47 ℃ most of the time except one time when it went to 57 ℃ after many hours being on. Also, i don't think it's the cable (i checked if it's loose, but i will test another cable and the monitor itself in another pc shortly).
However, the most weird thing is that it turns on on its own even when the computer is off and i specificaly closed the monitor from the power button!! It just open displaying a message of no input (which is logical given that the pc is off) and makes a little "beep" noise which is likely coming from the built-in speakers.
Whenever the monitor turns off i can still use keyboard/mouse and the pc is running very well.[strike] I noticed that there is a chance that in the elementary OS this issue doesn't occur but i can't be sure since i haven't test it for 2-3 hours straight.[/strike]
What can it possibly be??? Any help will be appreciated!
