Monitor going to sleep on startup when graphic card is inserted

i have graphic card which has three ports dvi, hdmi and vga but when i put the vga cable on the graphic card vga slot on installation my monitor shows no signal.......... i should use dvi cable or what........ please help.......////////

This happened to me 2 days ago, and now my card is dead

Yeah, i have this problem right now and whenever the card is in the PC i lose power to keyboard and mouse and don't get a display. It seems our cards are broken (mine still powers on though).
