Monitor has Av mode for hdmi but no sound

Hi so i bought a new monitor a couple of months ago (samsung C24F390HE) and set it up as needed. I didnt check the sound then (i know rookie mistake) as i used headphones but when i try now - no sound.
i use a 1070ti but dont think its that as i tested the monitor with a laptop that i know is working and got the same result (no sound). Changed the cables installed the right drivers but nothing.

In the sound settings the green bars come as to say its receiving audio, but i cant hear anything.

any help is appreciated, also should i try claim warranty?

My research strongly suggests that your Samsung monitor doesn't have built-in speakers, that's why there's no audio coming from it. Plus, in specs it says "Audio In - No".

@Phillip Corcoran Hmm. that is weird as when i move the joystick, it brings up volume control. Why would there be volume control if no audio? you may be right tho

I'm guessing that "Volume Control" refers to volume of external PC speakers or headphones if you've got either of those plugged in to your PC.

oh yea that makes sense. the monitor has a audiojack. hmm thank you for the help

wait a min. if the 3.5 audiojack is on the monitor, then does it mean that the monitor does receive audio? for it to be able to output audio?
