Hello, I've recently run into a problem with an HP 23xi monitor that I have been using for 15 months. The monitor has been working up until the other day when, during mid use, the monitor acquired a pink hue on the left side.

Photo of Gradient (monitor should be fully white:

I'm not sure if the issue is fixable. I have tested cables, I have tested the input and outputs of the monitor and graphics card, I have also tested with other monitors that work fine. Any ideas for what I can do to fix the issue? Is the issue even fixable?

I am also two months out of warranty so getting the monitor replaced by HP is probably not an option. HP will not even allow me to submit a support ticket.

Thanks for your time. Any help is appreciated.

I have seen this happen on notebook displays, and it was always the backlight that caused it...however it appears doing a google search shows that monitor as being an LED backlight, which i haven't seen have that problem... Only have ever seen it with CCFL(Flourescent) backlights.

Not sure what to tell you, possible its still related to the LED's for backlighting, but my expertise is limited on LED's

If it was an issue with the backlight what would that mean for me, as in repairing? Mostly wondering if replacing something like that is tough?

Also just moments ago the gradient changed. The gradient was still pink but I could see faint outlines chrome which I did have open at the time of the change. I would include a photo except that the chrome burn in faded and the pink gradient is almost back to the same as before. This is very weird.

You might want to try that monitor on another computer for kicks, just to confirm monitor is truly the issue. If it is, not much u can do but replace it, or Call HP and see about an out of warranty repair.

I have never had success replacing backlights, as they are integrated into the display panel..you may be able to find a replacement panel via amazon/ebay but you would want to disassemble the outer shell and get the exact part number off of the actual panel, as HP may have used different manufacturers panels in the same Model monitor

I am not able to test on another computer right now but earlier I did plug the monitor into the HDMI on a cable box. I got an error saying the signal feed was wrong type but the burn in was still there either way. I would be able to check the monitor on another computer a different day but for now checking the cable box was the best I could do. I also have other monitors plugged into the same graphics card and they are all fine, even tried the same HDMI plug with a different monitor.

When you say replacement panel do you mean the screen part of the monitor? I've taken an old laptop monitor apart before and remember there only being 1 panel but just wanted to make sure before I thank things apart. I had not even thought of replacing the panel but I'll likely look into that now. I'd call HP but, aside my dislike of calling customer service, I've read that out of warranty repair is a charge service so I would need to pay them anyway.

Thanks again for the suggestion. Was pretty easy taking apart the monitor, I found a repair manual. Also it does not look the backlight is the issue. I unsnapped the screen panel from the backlight, just to see what it looked like plugged in, and the pink hue is on the screen itseslf. Either way I still need to replace the panel but I am having trouble finding replacement parts. I looked for the panel on Ebay but the only parts I can find are for other monitors. Are there other places to check for parts like the one I am looking for?
