So, I got a LG Flatron IPS224 from my brother who was having the same issue, and didn't want to deal with it. The issue is that the monitor is black for several seconds, and then flickers on for less than a second. The issue displayed when it flickers on is correct and shows what I expect to be on that monitor.

I have tried both HDMI and DVI-D inputs. The cable is not faulty because I used my own cable, the cable currently plugged into my monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions? If it a serious fault then I will take the loss and throw it out.

monitor specs. http://www.lg.com/hk_en/monitor/lg-IPS224V-home
being it uses a power adapter instead of a regular power cord means there is just 1 controller board in that monitor instead of 2, video controller & power board. can open it up to examine that board for any domed or leaking capacitors as did that on this 24" Samsung monitor I got from a customer as it was not working so replaced 2 capacitors. been working for about 6 months with no issues at all.

Not that I am aware of. I was never told that it was damaged, only that it ceased to function properly one day.
