Monitor Jitter

I am running my sony gdm-fw900 at 1920 x 1200 @ 85hz and it has a noticeable jitter. It is intermittent in presence and intensity but its usually there in a mild form. At 75hz its shaking like an earthquake and at 60 its perfectly still (and hurts my eyes). 1920 x 1200 is the "golden" res for this monitor so i dont want to change that but cant take the jitters of the high hz or the glare of the low hz. middle hz shakes even worse. fml

i know for sure:

1. its not outside interference

2. its not a hardware or software issue

3. its not a driver issue

4. it is related to refresh rate


changing refresh rates gets rid of it totally but unfortunately not to a rate i want to use. Any tips or anything else that it could be?

i also have this problem on my lacie 22 blue electron IV which is running 1600x1200 @85hz. Im certain that 85 is not a good rate for either of these. if i could set it to a custom rate between 72 and 85 im sure i could fix the issue but i cant find a program that does that. halp plz.
