Hello, I have a Monitor(normal PC screen) connected to my graphic card Nvidia GTX 1080TI with a HDMI cable. Every time i open a video(for example Windows Media Player, a game for example Apex Legends, or even recently a youtube video, my screen flickers and it shows a text "HDMI" as if i have just plugged the cable to it. It's like switching to it? I don't know. Here is a picture of it and also a picture of my Nvidia control panel. I am suspecting that this issue might be causing FPS drops/lags/stutter that i experience in games. Even very low end games that my PC can EASILY handle are lagging. I have tried many options as VSYNC on or off etc. Nothing helps. Any idea what it is and how to fix it? (I will add that i own only 1 Monitor).

Is the game changing the resolution or refresh? Have you brought up the on screen display of the monitor to verify that the settings are the same before and after the pop-up ?

Resolution stays same, it looks like its refreshing back to the same one as it was. I searched around similar topic and even installed my monitor drivers from manufacturer website and problem still remains.

I was able to fix the "switching" problem by changing Desktop color settings in Nvidia control panel to "Fullscreen-videos" although the feeling of "sttutering, choppiness" still persists in some games. Especially in Minecraft. It seems to be stable 120 Fps and time to time for a second GPU usage spikes to 100% droppping my fps so low, causing a momentary lag and then it comes back to normal to 120.
