Hello All!

I have an ASUS PB298Q Ultra-wide monitor connected to my XFX AMD Radeon R7 265 Core Edition video card.

When I originally setup (installed video card, drivers, etc.) I was using an HDMI cable and I was getting a resolution of 2560 x 1080 (the maximum supported by the monitor).

I recently purchased a DVI Male Digital Dual-Link Cable and used tried using it instead of the HDMI. I shut down my computer and when I restarted the resolution was only 1920 x 1080 and this was the maximum I could set it to. Both Windows and AMD Catalyst Control Center indicated that this is the max resolution at the maximum frequency of 60 Hz.

I have been reading the monitor specs and manuals, etc. and nowhere does it say that the resolution for the DVI connector is less than HDMI.

Is this normal or should I be getting the same resolution as the HDMI cable? If it's not normal can anyone tell me how I might go about fixing the issue?

Thank you,

Jan

P.S. The XFX video card has two DVI cable outputs, a red one and a "normal colored" one. and I am currently using the red output. What is the difference between the two and could this be the problem?

Your cable
Supports hot plugging of DVI devices and resolutions up to 1080p.
Allows high speed digital transmission up to 4.95 Gbps

Besides why have you changed from HDMI anyways???

Oh snap! I didn't even notice that. 🙁 I should have been more observant when buying the cable! I hope there are DVI cables that support higher resolutions.

Why did I switch? Just curious I guess. :)

Thank you
