Question Monitor-mount doesn't fit AOC G2460V monitor despite both being VESA compliant?

So i recently bought a Loctek DLB511L mount for my AOC monitor.
The screws, while they'll go through the mount's fastening back-plate into the plastic back-plate of the monitor, won't actually fasten into into the holes because the holes on the back are far too small. I know that the monitor is supposed to comply with VESA but the holes are too small.

What do i do? Any ideas?

Just

use screws that do work and a washer.

Thing is, won't smaller screws leave a gap in the mount's backplate and the monitor won't be supported?
