Okay, so I finally cracked and have decided to spoil myself to a monitor that is able to run at 144hz. Found two great deals one that is pretty dang cheap, and one that is a little more expensive but also has a displayport connection.

The graphics card I'm currently running has two MINI displayport connections. If I got a mini-dp to DP wire would there be any quality loss at all, and would it be able to run at the 144hz?

If there this is possible without ANY quality loss do you think it's worth spending a few extra bucks for the DP connector model, or would you recommend just going cheaper with the dual-DVI connection?

Note: Both of these monitors are in my price range. Just wondering if that DP thing is possible/worth it over the dual link-DVI

Solution
although a newer protocol designed to replace sometime the older vga / dvi, if you are only interesting in 144hz then DP holds no advantage over dual link dvi d. the quality is the same. there are though advantages like the capability to produce higher than 1440p , additionally carry audio or allow multiple displays on single DisplayPort connector(under specific conditons) and many others but all these can be irrelevant!

Noo, performance is pretty much all I care about (counter strike player 😛). Thanks for the answer! Now I do have a dual monitor display... I was just going to throw the second monitor, which is only a 60hz, on my cards hdmi connector, since I won't be needing it. I'm assuming this is not going to effect my new main monitors 144hz performance correct?

Side note my two monitor choices are actually between the benq 2420 you have and it's 2411 little brother 😛

the only thing migh affect is the gpu performance, as there might be a minor drop in gaming performance, having activities in both monitors at once.! monitor performance wont be affected in any way.!

the XL2420T i have is only 120hz capable. you would be looking between XL2420Z and XL2411Z which are 144hz capable. apart from the dp absence and s switch and a few stylish differences the XL2411Z model has, performance wisely they are identical.!
