Good day.
I've had my current setup for over two years, without any complications. A week ago, all of the sudden my monitor did not receive a signal anymore. After a bit of digging, I found out that the onboard graphics were still working and threw my HDMI cable in there. This was because my computer did not recognise my GTX 780 Ti anymore, and instead replaced it with the 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter' in Device Manager under Display Adapters. After trying to get my computer to recognise my card for a while, it would usually recognise it by itself after an hour or two and things would be back to normal even after several reboots.. Until I shut off my computer for the night and turned it back on the following day. My card did not get recognised, again.
Now I have tried several things to get rid of this problem:
- Updated BIOS
- Updated Chipset drivers
- Swapped PCI-E slots
- Tried to reinstall NVIDIA drivers (Which didn't work once, since my system never detected my GPU)
- Tried to uninstall/disable the 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'
None of the methods worked.
However, now my problem has worsened:
My monitor receives no signal, not from the GPU or from the onboard graphics.
I think this has to do with me disabling the integrated graphics driver after my GPU got recognised for the last time, to try to get rid of the initial problem.
My computer boots without fail, but its unusable since the monitor gets no signal from any possible source.
If needed (and if possible), I don't mind wiping my SSD to factory settings and just reinstall Windows from a thumbdrive.. But how this is done and if it is possible..?
I'm in the dire need of help guys, I feel like I've murdered my baby.
My specs:
Intel i5 4670k @ 3.1GHz, OCd @ 4.2GHz
MSI Z87-G45 GAMING Mobo
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB GAMING
Windows 8.1 Pro, 64bit
Thank you so much in advance,
Cisko
