Monitor No Signal

So I just finished building my first PC, and I turned it on everything turned on all the fans were going, but the monitor wouldnt show anything, and I use VGA, but I also tried using HDMI all it did was give me a No Signal error, I think Im just not getting signal, and im really confused, if someone could help it would be great, and yes, ive took the ram out and cleaned it, it did nothing.

Do you have the monitor connected to the GPU or the motherboard?

first I had it on the motherboard, then I did HDMI on the graphics card

You HAVE to have it connected to the GPU.

Specs: Graphics card Asus 7790 1gb, processor AMD FX 6300, power supply corsair cx 430, motherboard Asus m5a78l-mlx plus.

Do everything here and make sure the monitor is plugged into the GPU.
