Fill me in, I got about $120 in bestbuy gift cards to buy a monitor from my uncle and aunts. My parents are getting me a new pc for school and GAMING. I'm not sure how much I should spend to on a monitor, or if its a good idea to get a monitor before I actually get a PC.

I'm thinking of spending no more then 150 and have to get it at best buy(Online is fine). I really know nothing when it comes to monitors to the thread is probably empty with no real idea of what I want or specs.

Solution
With your requirements (Bestbuy and $150) I would recommend any of the 22 inch 1080p monitors they offer in the 100-150 range.
Here's two I found...

They both include a cable/connector for DVI or VGA. So you will be in the safe zone with your new pc. Assuming it doesn't only have HDMI out =). But thats unlikely, and if that happens you can get a HDMI to DVI connector for cheap.
