Monitor not detected after shutdown

I use two displays, one being a monitor and the other a tv mounted above. My graphics card has two hdmi outs so I connect one to the monitor and the other to the tv. The problem is that everytime I shutdown or hibernate my pc (which I do when I leave for the day), the next time I come back and boot up, my pc only detects 1 display which is always the tv. I go into display settings on Windows 10 and it only detects 1 display even though I was just using 2. How can I fix this? I could just unplug 1 hdmi before shutdown but I'd rather keep them both in, there shouldn't be a reason to keep taking them in and out.

Solution
I used to have this problem.
It drove me crazy.
My solution was to power off/on the offending monitor, then go to windows screen resolution panel and ask to detect.

I think it is a problem that comes from two sources.
First is the ability of the monitor to enter and recover from a low power mode. One of my monitors worked, and the other did not.

Then, originally, all was well using a GTX780 adapter.
Changing to a GTX980ti, the problem started up .
I think the GTX980ti was working hard to reduce power when in sleep mode( I use sleep, not hibernate; it is quicker)
Driver updates did nothing. Research on EVGA forums indicated similar issues, but no solutions.

Ultimately, I repurposed the offending monitor, a Yamakazi Sparta 301(2560...

Ultimately, I repurposed the offending monitor, a Yamakazi Sparta 301(2560 x 1600) connected via dual link dvi, the only option.

As a practical matter, you are not going to change out your monitor or graphics card.
One thing you might experiment with is changing the type of connections.
If your monitor has both dp and hdmi, for example change the connection.
