Hey guys. I feel so sad right now. I was using a casper 19 inch monitor, then wanted to upgrade to asus 20 inch monitor,(1440x900 to 1600x900) But the screen is shaking, vibrating, and at 1600x900, it looks so bad, only at 1920x1080, it gets a little better

What can i do? Is the monitor faulty?

Some monitors can appear a little fuzzy when displaying in non-native resolution. It shouldn't be shaky though. Try switching monitor cables.
Also, instead of running at a lower resolution, try running at native (1920x1080?) and increasing the font size.

Switch screen resolution to native resolution for your new monitor. 1600x900 as I understand. If problem persists, swap cables. If your video card and new monitor have digital output and input (DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort), use these with appropriate cables and avoid analog VGA (blue D-15 sockets).

vs208dr

So, i was using the nvidia controls,(custom resolutiions,) And the 1600x900 75 hz CVT is the sharpest i get, the default 60 hz 1600x900 sucks(idk)
But yeah, i think i have to deal with it i guess

It also looks very good on 1920x1080 but i need to take my glasses off lmao

Native resolution for Asus VS208DR is 1600x900@75 Hz. Never use something different or your eyes will splurge out - I guarantee that. Only VGA input - so you must use VGA output from PC/GPU with VGA cable (DVI-I to VGA cable counts too) and separate DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI-D to VGA adapter if PC/GPU have only DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI-D outputs.

Keep in mind that bad quality VGA cable will cause interference and picture distortion and jerking in result 😉

1920x1080 on this monitor is 1600x900 is downscaled masochism. Another way how to broke your eyes prematurely.

The biggest problem with that monitor is that it only has VGA (analog) input. Newer graphics cards don't even support VGA. Sorry, but this wasn't an "upgrade".

No one blame him. For example my nephew now use <Mod Edit> 19" 1366x768 monitor with only analog input. Got is as giveaway and use it because he can't afford new gaming monitor now after purchasing parts for his new PC. We will later upgrade him to better monitor 😉

The problem is, when you buy a current graphics card, as an upgrade, it doesn't support VGA. You end up having to buy an active converter. And reliability and quality suffer.

Am using an adaptor to transfer it to HDMI, i checked if it was the adaptor with motherboards vga connector plus removing the gpu but the adaptor seems to be ok

Well I'm kinda happy now, my CPU won't bottleneck anymore. So i can play cyberpunk at high settings, sad that i cant afford top notch gaming monitors, but im happy

Will try another vga cable for this shaking vibrating issue, thanks guys

I'm glad it sorted out. DisplayPort/HDMI to VGA adapters differ too. Usualy ones in 15-30$ price range are fine even up to 1080p@60 Hz resolution. VGA cable must be good though. I use one of these with 24" Samsung monitor in 1080p resolution - picture is sharp and not jerking. By the way usually contraption from separate adapter and VGA cable make good and sharp picture. Combined cable and adapter assemblies in resolutions above 720p are prone to produce noisy picture. Seems those built-in-cable adapters have too thin power wires or are otherwise inferior.

It is worth to monitor your local stores and craigslist alternatives. Sometimes interesting things appear. Got Asus VG27AQL1A monitor for 150$ below retail price and Ryzen 5 3600X CPU for 60$ below retail price due to damaged packaging boxes in such way. And slightly used working Be Quiet Straight Power 11 750W PSU with all cables for 100$.

My monitor cost me 50 dollars. (It's alot but taxes are not letting us buy greater stuff)
And the hdmi to vga adaptor cost me 4 dollars
The country where i live in, the monitors are insanely high, other components are as well, for example. A brand new rx 570 costs 310 dollars. lol
And a brand new rtx 3090 costs 3518 dollars
