Everything seems to be working fine. The fans on the card are running. The computer only picks up an intel 4000 hd instead. There are 2 hdmi ports one of them works the other one that plugs into the graphics card doesn't seem to. I checked the device manager and it doesn't read the card. I'm not very good with computers so if i left anything out just tell me.

Here are specs:
Intel 3570k
Radeon 7870
gigabyte z77-hd3
corsair 750 watt power supply

Are you sure that your 7870 is not defective ? ,check you card on some other PC , make sure you have connected all the power connector properly on your GFX card , Use the FIRST PCI E slot on your motherboard , your monitor should be connected to the GFX card not motherboard :)

Yeah i installed drivers, i read in another thread that if you go into bios and change your init settings to peg or pci could be a potential fix but now my bios is not saving any changes i make......I don't know what to do i'm pretty sure its not defective i don't have another pc to check it on. I mean the fans are running on the card itself. I go into device manager and it doesn't even say that its there.

the motherboard should detect the CARD in the first time and doesn't require to change any settings at bios btw DOWNLOAD GPU -Z to monitor the graphics card and make a screenshot :)

If the fans are spinning but the amd site can't detect it, it's probably something wrong with the pci express or something on the motherboard. I'm assuming it's not a defective gpu but rather a problem with the motherboard. It seems that you're motherboard isn't that good according to reviews on newegg. f
