I have an upstar I240wm monitor that doesn't seem to display at 1080p. I got a gtx 970 today, installed the drivers and connected it using a dvi cable but the resolution is stuck at 1680x1050. I thought it was the drivers/graphics card but I tried connecting the monitor to my laptop using a vga cable and its still stuck on that resolution. The monitor is not too well known so I couldn't find a manual anywhere, I also see in every website that it is advertised at a 1080p monitor. Do you guys have any advice on what to do? I was running windows 10 in both the desktop and the laptop that I tried this on.

edit: upstar I240wm not I240wn

I couldn't find any documentation regarding that particular model, but that sounds like an aspect ratio issue, not a display issue. That resolution sounds like a 16:10 aspect ratio, as opposed to the 16:9 generally found on monitors.

Your monitor is 16:10, the 1080P resolution for you would be 1920x1200, but your monitor only supports up to 1680x1050, that's probably why you can't go higher. The monitor may have been advertised as 1080P, but it's not, it's not 720p either, it's something in between, next time I suggest buying from a known brand like ASUS or LG.
