I recently purchased an acer predator xb271hu (1440p 144hz gsync) I got the IPS version and the price tag was pretty high. Considering that I’m disappointed by the issue I’m experiencing with it. The tiniest bump of the power cable will turn the monitor off during games, and it happens frequently and is really annoying. When I push the cable back in it turns on and off many times. I’ve given the cable a ridiculous amount of slack and still the issue continues. On top of this, I’ve noticed some small hiccups / stutters in the games, but my fps is consistent. Could this be the result of a poor quality display port? And also could the monitor being unplugged while it’s on damage it?

It's highly unlikely. I've done it before, but watch out doing that. If the cable won't stay in and the monitor glitches then it sounds like the monitor could be the problem.
