Monitor problem, after a bit it goes black and says no signal then wakes up on mouse movement (all power options explored)

Only started happening recently, not sure what it is. It's not the best monitor, its a kogan 27" LED gaming monitor I think the name is... I have had it for a while. I am using DVI connection and I thought I should try HDMI but I haven't found my HDMI cable yet but I will try it when I do. I have tried everything I can possibly think of... regediting the power settings, regular power options, bios settings, previously installed programs messing with it, graphics card drivers (not sure if this could be it) they are updated (nvidia geforce gtx 970) Any suggestions are appreciated very much, thanks. It seems like something is forcing the monitor to sleep after a certain time though I have checked everything.
