Monitor Problem...Please Help.

Hey there. About an hour ago I was chatting with a friend when all of a sudden my monitor screen became alot darker. I would say 50% darker than normal. It also seems to have very evenly uniformed horizontal lines going across the screen anywhere that text appears. I restarted my machine a couple times, checked all connections, and even unplugged my monitor for about 15 minutes to no avail. I removed my video card and took a look at it, but it seems to be working ok. I don't have another monitor or video card to try right now to see if either are going bad. The monitor is a 17" ViewSonic A70 that I have had now for several years with zero problems. Thank you for any help in letting me know what may or is going on.

I would consider uninstalling/reinstalling your video card drivers. Ideally it'd be best to test your rig with another monitor before doing anything, but if that option isnt available to you, you've got to work with what you have.

In the past, I've seen video driver corruption cause issues with low brightness as well as odd shadow-like effects caused my on screen items.
