Monitor problem when connecting to a DVI-D port

Hello, I have a BenQ XL2420TE.
When i connect the monitor to a DVI-D port it won't work and say "Out of data" or something like that.
The monitor is currently on VGA port and its been like that for a year now, which means I've never used 144hz.
the cable is absolutely fine so is the monitor, I checked it with another computer, I'm pretty sure the problem is with my GPU ports but maybe its fixable?
My GPU is GeForce GTX 660.

When i hear you story.
Its or a driver problem, try to install the latest drivers.
Otherwise it is indeed the gpu what is the problem.
