Monitor problem

Hi, I've got a problem with my Optiquest Q2202wb. When I try to boot my pc it blackscreens after loading for a while. Same happens when I leave my pc open for a while without using it(few hours maybe) at first I thought it was a PC problem but I plugged my monitor on a laptop and the same problem occured. Can this be fixed? The monitor is getting old(got it maybe 4 years ago) but I'd rather just fix it if possible. I tried switching to another plug, and it didn't work. I couldn't get my hands on a new d-sub plug so that may be the problem. Any thoughts?

So that sounds similar to what happened to my screen, the screen going black randomly before the display went completely dead... and I've been told it's most likely the capacitors going. So those would need to be changed. You can check if you're confident enough to open up your monitor, when looking at the capacitors if they're bulging or cracking on top, or you can see any kind of brownish fluid then they're dying or dead.
