Monitor problems plz help

Hello I have just recently built a computer and everything works great, but I am saving up for a new monitor so I have to use this old compaq fp7317 monitor and it turns on and everything but it keeps saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" amy help would be great, thanks!

that message is coming from the pc, not the monitor. It means that the PC is unable to find a device, listed in the boot order listing in the bios, that is bootable. Please see if the harddrive (HDD) is detected in the bios and that it is in the boot order list.

ok thanks just a couple more questions, how do I look in my bios and how do I put the monitor in my bios. (sorry I'm kind of a novice)
