Question Monitor randomly flickers to black ?

Very strange issue.

my monitor will randomly flicker to black, for no more than 1 second. and immediately come back with the input message you would see when switching displays.

the strange thing is, if i am playing a video game, or watching a video. it will not happen. only when i am in something that is "still" i guess it will do this.

im sure this has to be indicative of something. any help appreciated thanks
