Question monitor randomly goes static after installing new gpu

So I just bought the rx 5600 xt sapphire and it runs great. But my monitor randomly goes static ( snowy/white noise) and after I hit the source button it jumps between vgia and dvi and gose back to normal like nothing happened.
I have 1 monitor connected with a dvi to hdmi cable (hdmi is for the gpu). Why dose that happen?
Cable is brand new but monitor is a about 8 years old.

Cpu - i7
Cooler master mwe 80+ 550 power supply dc to dc bronze also brand new.
Any ideas?

Please help
