Apologies if this is an inappropriate post. I’m looking for recommendations for a monitor and docking station.
I have an HP Spectre 360 2in1 Laptop that I’d like to connect it to a larger monitor. 27-32”<$600, to run Photoshop and some games, .

Do the monitors with streaming capability work well? Overwhelming number of options. Maybe the Samsung 34-inch ViewFinity S65VC series Ultra-WQHD curved monitor.
And the connection to the laptop, USB-C, or HDMI? How do I figure out if I have thunderbolt connections?

As for Docking Station: the usual stuff, printer, keyboard, external speakers. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that’s my computer. I think it has thunderbolt connections although i’ll admit i’m not sure what that means. Seems like what i’d need in a dock. The only thing missing is connection to my external speakers but i can connect directly to the laptop. I have more flexibility money wise. I tend to spend the money in things that i keep for a long time.

You could connect external displays directly without a docking station, the dock just makes it easier when you want to disconnect.

You have these output ports: 1 USB Type-A 10Gbps signaling rate (HP Sleep and Charge); 2 Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB Type-C® 40Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI 2.1; 1 AC smart pin; 1 headphone/microphone combo[19]

Looks like up to 3 displays could be attached. Once again, easier to do with a docking station.

You mentioned this monitor: https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-ViewFinity-Adjustable-Intelligent-LS34C650VANXGO/dp/B0CDQLTQTL?th=1

Bigger than you think. Definitely nice. With larger displays, you need to be farther back from them for comfortable use.

Thanks for your help. I currently connect everything directly to my laptop, including an old, dim hp monitor. I’ve reached a somewhat challenging place with my vision. I’m near sighted and tend to bring monitors closer to me and take off my glasses which is the main reason I’m looking at bigger monitors. At work our work stations have dual monitors but I usually pick one and pull it closer. The laptop suffices when I need portability but it’s frustrating for extended use…just don’t have enough space on the little screen…and I want to clean up the clutter on my home desk.

can you explain something from the amazon link, please? There are choices listed under ‘pattern’ like usb-c, thunderbolt 4, dp+hdmi and hdmi only with a significant difference in price. Is it the same monitor with different connections with different speeds or resolutions or something entirely different?

Also, the size of the monitor is a diagonal measurement, correct? My current monitor is 26”.

I understand your vision needs. I share them. My daily driver PC uses two, fairly basic, 1080P displays. I can use with or without glasses. My game rig has a larger 4K display that needs to sit a bit farther back. I wear my glasses when gaming.

Yes, displays are measured diagonally in terms of screen size.

The "patterns" addresses variations of the model. Looks like input ports are largely the same. For instance, the USB-C variant can apparently be used to charge USB-C devices.

Thank you. How does the monitor connect to the laptop? Via one of thise ‘patterns..?’ Any other monitor suggestions? So manu options with details i din’t understand and probably don’t care about.

I would recommend you visit a local Best Buy or Micro Center to view some displays in person. What I like may not be what you like. MC often has some really good deals as well.

The monitor would attach to a HDMI or USB-C (also acts as DisplayPort) port if connecting directly to your laptop.
