Hi All,

I hope you are able to assist

I have been having a discussion with a friend RE: monitor refresh rates and if you can actually force your monitor to a higher hz

So with the GPU that I have, I am able to create a custom display profile in the AMD settings where you can create a custom resolution as well as a custom refresh rate, so if I had to change the refresh rate to. say 80-90 hz in the custom profile, would this actually force the monitor refresh rate to that (monitor is a 60hz) or would the monitor still be capped at 60hz regardless of the setting?

I was thinking that maybe it will just stay capped at 60hz although when I change the actual refresh rate, the screen goes black for a second, applies the settings and then comes back on

Thank you

If your monitor supports max 60Hz, then it would not work at 80-90Hz.
You might be able to run it at ~70 .. 75Hz though.
That is what I was thinking but surely if it wasn't able to then the display would go black? because my friend also tried it and once he went past 70hz it went black yet mine goes way past that and still doesn't make the display go black
