Monitor Resolution Out of Control

So i have a EN7750 monitor pretty simple old envision monitor. And it worked great until one day i ran a piece of code that detects the maximum resolution. And it read back to me that my monitor was 4K. And indeed i do have a option to choose 4K rez. So why does windows allow this option and how do i fix it!
