Monitor says "No Signal." Is it my GPU?

My PC turns on, but my monitor says "no signal." I've tried using VGA cable and HDMI, but I still get no signal. I've just recently replaced my motherboard so that might have something to do with it. Unplugged and replugged the GPU, made sure the CPU was connected to the PSU, but I'm still not getting a signal.

The aforementioned motherboard replacement uses the exact model as my older mobo. (My monitor connected back than, so im sure its not a compatibility issue with the GPU).

Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46
GPU: MSI GTX 970
CPU: AMD fx8350

I've also tried making sure the RAM is in place. The monitor simply says "no signal."

Is this a GPU problem? The GPU's lights and fans are on. So I'm unsure if its busted.

Am I connecting the GPU into the wrong PCI slot on my mobo? Its the one closest to the CPU. (Thats were it was connected on my old mobo).

Im connecting the VGA and HDMI cables directly to the GPU.

Help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: I connected my old GPU, problem still occurs.

Maybe a problem with the monitor?

If you replaced the motherboard and this started, first why did you replace it? Maybe the issue was not the motherboard and something else that is still broken.

Second, if you are sure it was a bad motherboard, I would be thinking you installed something improperly, missing a power connection, wrong plug in somewhere, lose board, CPU not installed properly, something in the build.

If you checked over everything, maybe with a second person to double check things as it can be tough to see your own mistake, then start testing other components, RAM, video card, power supply.

I doubt it's the monitor, but that is easy to test with another computer.
