Monitor says no signal no matter what I do.

I just built my first computer. My monitor keeps saying no signal. At first I had my monitor connected to my graphics card via a DVI(on the monitor) and HDMI(on the graphics card) That showed no signal. I tries moving the graphics card to another slot, this did nothing. I tried removing the graphics card and connecting the monitor to the motherboard via VGA cable and yet again got no signal. Is my motherboard bad? It seems to be getting power fine. All my fans work and my keyboard is getting power from my motherboard. I just hooked up that same monitor to my laptop and the laptop displayed on it just fine using a VGA. Please help.

The videocard will disable onboard. Plug the cables into the GPU. Or remove it and see if onboard video works

And if youre using VGA to HDMI or DVI you need an active adapter to get a signal

I tried removig the GPU and connecting the monitor to the motherboard using a VGA. That didn't work. What adapter are you talking about?

You cant use a straight VGA to HDMI or DVI cable/adapter. VGA is analog the other 2 are digital. Theyre not compatible with each other

Thats why you get no signal. Unless the adapter is active

I'll purchase one tomorrow but I highly doubt this's the problem consideing I removed the GPU and tried to connect to the motherboard via VGA an still got no signal.
