Monitor shows no signal when GPU is plugged in

Monitor shows no signal when GPU is plugged in. Am using HDMI and have tried both onboard and GPU ports, neither work. Took GPU out and it worked so I changed BIOS settings to boot internal graphics, replugged GPU to install drivers, it still doesn't work. GPU can be seen in the BIOS so it's definitely plugged in.
My build:
Nvidia gforce gtx1060
Intel core i7 7700k
Msi z270 m3

what PSU are you using? maybe it cant handle your gpu

test gpu in another system and see if you could use another gpu in your system for test .
