Monitor shuts down after a very short time

My system developed a problem all of a sudden. After my computer starts up, the screen comes on for less than a minute. If I turn off monitor it will come on and go off again. Computer is running fine. I tried substituting a different monitor, using same cables, and it appears to be fine. The monitor is an acer,
can it be fixed, is it a simple problem. It is about 10+ years old.is it worth fixing it is a 23" screen
Any ideas?

Repair of a modern monitor is rarely done these days owing to the high cost (unless you can do it yourself), buying new makes more sense.
