Monitor shuts off then turns on.

So I recently built a new computer last week, the first couple days there wasn't a single problem, but as of recently my main monitor (Acer GN246HL Bbid 24-Inch 3D Gaming Display) will randomly shut off then reconnect within a few seconds. This only happens when I'm playing video games as well, it has yet to happen when I'm watching youtube or some other task on my computer. The second monitor remains on, the PC remains on as well. The rate at which it disconnects is relatively random as well, some days it will disconnect once or twice, the next it will disconnect twice within an hour.
My graphics card is a: ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG Strix Graphics Card

check the video power settings and power settings in windows see if windows is trying to put the monitor to sleep. download hardware info set it to logging and sensor see if the 12v rail is holding. nvidia over the past week or so have pushed a few buggie drivers. try using ddu and use the newest drivers or try reusing older ones see if the error happens.
