Monitor shutting off

Hi,

Today, my monitor turned off and on again several times. My native resolution was 1920x1080, and then it wouldn't go beyond 1440x700 or something after it flickered. Then, I tried a different monitor. It worked fine, no flickers. I replaced the surge protector, and that solved it for about six hours. Now, it just flickered again, and turned off, but oddly, the power light remained blue, and when I tried to power it off, it wouldn't turn off. The light stayed blue. Now, I've directly connected the power cable from the monitor to an outlet in my wall.

But that may be temporary. Any ideas?

Okay, thanks for the reply. Now, I acknowledge that and I'll give it to a local shop -- but, the monitor flickering stops after 5 minutes - and the monitor works all day, it's only after I boot up that it keeps turning on and off...
