most of the time i turn on my pc to find it boot correctly as the one beep on my computer indicates it has, but it will still not send signal to the monitor. after re-plugging the computer and monitor a couple of times it will work. i was wondering if anyone else has this problem because i can't find anything that has fixed my problem.

btw i have:

Intel i5-4590 3.30GHz Quad Core CPU
Gigabyte Z97-D3H - Intel Z97 - ATX Motherboard
8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR
and a gigabyte gtx 960

thanks in advance

That is not necessarily a mobo error. That means that the boot process did not happen properly, so the computer found no OS to boot. Try running the Windows Repair, or maybe re-install Windows if worst comes to worst.
The key to troubleshooting is to isolate the problem. We need to find out what is causing the problem, and then we can fix it.

First, your CPU has integrate graphics. Try to connect your monitor to your integrated graphics (the ports on the motherboard, not the graphics card). If the computer boots up properly, then it is likely the graphics card has a faulty connection or some other error.

Otherwise, check that the cable you are using is not causing the problem. It should be rather inexpensive to get a new one if you don't already have another one around.

Finally, try to connect some other device to the monitor, to see if it is the monitor itself that is causing the problem.

well when i plugged the cable into the motherboard it worked fine first time, using another monitor also worked first time whichever port i used and its not the hdmi cable because i get the same results with different cables.
also would unplugging and turning off the computer including the switch make a difference or would it not matter? (left off overnight)

Turning off the main switch shouldn't have an effect on it. You can try, but I don't think that will fix the problem.

The fact that it worked fine plugged into the motherboard suggest that the graphics card is at fault, but the fact that another monitor also worked suggests it's the monitor. I agree we can rule out the cable, though. I think a bit more testing would be required to tell which component is causing an issue. You may have just gotten lucky and got the computer to boot properly a few times, for instance.

this time i booted up my computer like normal (turned on the switch and everything and plugged the monitor in at the same time) but this time i waited a bit longer after i plugged the computer in and it worked first time, would this have anything to do with problem (that i turn on the computer straight after i plug it in) or was i just lucky this time?

It's really hard to say. Specially if this is an issue that only sometimes happens, what would be best would be to wait for when you have some free time, and just keep trying over and over to collect some more data.

The other thing you could do is give your computer some time the next time it happens, if you're not in a rush to use your computer. Give it 5 to 10 minutes, and if it didn't get to login, then we know it's probably not just a delay in getting signal.

Hey,
I'm experiencing the same problem. Sometimes (cca one of three times I try to start up) I just get the message No Signal on my monitor and then it turns into a sleep mode but I still can hear speaker's beep and then windows' melody. Interesting is that I have very similiar components (everything is new) I have:

Intel i5-4590 3.30GHz Quad Core CPU
ASUS Z97-P
GAINWARD GTX960 Phantom GLH 2GB DDR5

It happens when i connect monitor to both the graphic card and the mobo. I tried to connect my video card to another computer and it worked just fine so i assume we can rule it out. Also monitor works fine with other computers so I guess it must be something with mobo. I've already updated my BIOS on mobo and video card but neither of it seemd to help.

Anything more I can do?

1. i think that was the problem, as i waited after i plugged it in and it worked again first time

2. Diirys, you should not have two cables for one monitor as that can usually cause this problem, you also don't need to and should just use the port on the gpu.

I don't use two cables. I meant that I tried to connect it to graphic card and then to mobo but not at the same time.

I got an idea to use remote desktop from my laptop when problem occurs to find out, if all components are working but now I have new problem. Monitor starts every time but this time doesn't even start windows. I can't see any mobo logo neither. The monitor displays only a "_" in left top corner. So I guess I'll just send the mobo back.
