Monitor sound problem

So basically, when I am listening to music, or watching videos, or any sound in general from my MONITOR speakers, the sound keeps cutting out and continuing then cutting out again etc but when I put my headset in I don't get this problem, everything is smooth.

How can I fix my monitor speakers cutting out?

P.s when I click the video timer mark again where it cuts out, the sound comes through until the next time it comes out

You plug the headphone in the monitor? Then it might be a contact problem in the headphone jack and a (very) little contact spray may help. Here is a picture of the jack and how it works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_%28audio%29

Noooo, I pluged my headset into my desktop tower.

But when I unplug it, to listen to music louder on my monitor speakers... my monitor speakers don't work fluidly, they keep cutting out every 5 secs

Yeah, I don't think anything is loose. I haven't moved the tower for ages, and before that, even, it was working fine...

Must be just an issue with the monitor speakers.

Are you connecting to the monitor with an HDMI cable or are you using DVI/VGA and a seperate audio connector?

It's a green one, connecting into the back plate of my tower, and the other end connecting into the back of my monitor (same green head slots)

I replugged the wires in, and made sure they're in firmly, and the problem still persists.

Try another source for the monitor (mp3) to isolate the problem, maybe the problem is the monitor.

Is the wire broken at any point ? (check to see that there are no cuts in the wire at any point could be a short in the wire ar break that is not making a good connection at some point) - Do you have another wire to test it with ? Do you have an extra set of speakers you could try ( to see if it is the monitor speakers having the problem) -- try to isolate each piece of the connection from the plug into the back off the system to the monitor speakers to narrow down where the problem is occurring (sounds like a bad connection at some point but hard to tell exactly where without testing each connection point) - If it were a software problem the same would happen with the headset - since they work fine it seems it is a connection problem or shorted\broken wire)
